As we all know, the I-85 ramp closure has had a significant impact on NAHS traffic flow.  The Atlanta Public Schools, in efforts to help students arrive and depart on time, has made North Atlanta High School a holding site for the rest of the year, allowing buses to be stationed here before and after running daily routes.   This means the open parking area and its loop next to the parking deck, located on the same level as the deck, will become their parking area, no longer being available to staff, students and any other visitors.   Please be reminded if you drive, you are only to park in the parking deck.   If you are a student or staff member, please do not park in a visitor, reserved or handicap parking area if you do not qualify for or require it.    Security personnel will monitor and act accordingly to keep that open parking area next to the deck open for buses.    Thank you for understanding as we continue to work for what’s best for our students, overall.

End of Course testing begins on Monday, April 24th.  We will have different class schedules during testing days.  

  • Below are the tests, along with the class schedules.  
  • We cannot publish exact times for classes, as the testing end time may vary.  
  • Please do not schedule any appointments during these times.  If your student is testing, they will not be able to be checked out of school until the testing is done, school wide.  
  • Please leave all smart watches and all other electronic devices at home as you will not be able to use them during the testing period, even if you are not testing!

AP Testing – May 1 – 14, 2017

If your student is taking an AP Exam, please see the schedule, with locations of all exams below.

Testing Dates and Times:

  • Morning AP Exams will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. Students must arrive to their testing locations by 7:45 am.
  • Afternoon AP Exams will begin promptly at 12:00 pm. Students must arrive to their testing locations by 11:45 p.m.
  • Any student arriving late to an AP exam will not be allowed to enter the testing room once testing has begun. No Exceptions.

Students must arrange for transportation for all AP Exams. All morning exams will begin prior to the start of the regular school day. All afternoon exams will run past the regular school day.

Procedures for Students:
Prohibited items include (but are not limited to):

  • Electronics equipment (cell phone, smartphone, smartwatch, laptop, tablet computer, etc.),
  • Portable listening or recording devices (MP3 player, iPod, etc.),
  • Cameras or other photographic equipment,
  • Devices that can access the Internet, or any other electronic or communication devices,
  • Books, scratch paper.

Students may bring the following items:

  • Food or drink (placed at the front of the testing room),
  • No. 2 pencils (not mechanical), pens with blue or black ink,
  • A watch that does not beep or is connected to the internet,
  • Up to two approved calculators (Calculus,  Physics, or Statistics only),
  • Ruler or straightedge (Physics only).

 Student Travel and Enrichment Opportunities

Interested in Going to Costa Rica or Georgia’s Barrier Islands? 

The Office of Gifted and Talented is offering two trips for students during the 2017-2018 school year.  On October 19-20, 2017, students can visit Georgia’s Barrier Islands with an environmental tour.  During Spring Break 2018, students can travel to Costa Rica with a service learning tour.  For more information about the Georgia Barrier Islands tour, go HERE.  For additional information about the service learning tour in Costa Rica, go HERE.

IB Showcase
Please join the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) students and IB Diploma Programme (DP) students, as they showcase their hard work and creativity!

In an engaging gallery format, IB MYP students will present their MYP Personal Projects, an independent and self-directed exploration of personal interest. Through a visual presentation, DP students will present the IB DP work they have created over the course of the 2 year programme and discuss the benefits of being an IB DP student.

College and Career Week


The College and Career Center will be hosting, "College Survival Week," for members of the Class of 2017 May 1-5, 2017. During this week a variety of workshops/information sessions will be held for students to prepare them for life in college.  All seniors are welcome to attend, but they must sign up at www.nahscollege.org

Workshop themes and dates are listed below:

Monday, May 1
New Room, New People: Living On A College Campus
This workshop will inform students on social etiquettes and expectations of college. Students will discuss living in a dorm, laundry, roommate conflict, and many more subjects.
 
Tuesday, May 2nd
Finding My Place: Joining Student Organizations
This workshop will inform students on how to become a leader on college campus.  The workshop will explore joining student groups, fraternities, sororities, athletics, and work-study.
 
Wednesday, May 3rd
Don’t Be Stupid: Making Wise Decisions While In College
This workshop will inform students on the social environment of college. Issues such as drugs, alcohol, dating, parties, and others will be discussed.
 
Thursday, May 4th
Navigating College:  How Do I Graduate On Time?
This workshop will inform students how to understand the different languages of college, such as course syllabus, major/minor, study abroad, and university credit.
 
Friday, May 5th
College Aid Struggles: Financial Do’s and Dont's
This workshop will inform students on the value of money and how to avoid making bad financial decisions.

Exploring Culture, Art and Service in Peru 


To support International Baccalaureate philosophy of international-mindedness, we are proud to announce an exciting trip for any interested students of North Atlanta High School. During Spring Break 2018, we will engage in a Service Learning Tour with EF to Peru. On a Service Learning Tour, teachers and students work side-by-side with locals on current challenges relating to access to education, sustainability, and economic development.

Each student will receive a PIN/Code, this will allow them to access the eBooks application. Follow the instruction below to start using eBooks.

ACT         AVA

 Atlanta Virtual Academy is offering all high school students free test preparation services for college entrance exams, ACT and SAT. AVA has partnered with Edgenuity, an online education provider, to expand support by offering free test prep services.  All 9th-12th grade students have been enrolled in ACT and SAT web-based courses, which will allow them to complete lessons at their own pace. There is not a teacher attached to the course and students do not receive credit. Students will log in and get started…that simple!!  Please visit AVA’s website for additional information.

 Student Drivers: It’s Time to Buy Your Parking Pass

Parking permits are required for all students wishing to park on campus at North Atlanta High School.

Cost:  $50 (cash or money order only, NO CHECKS) for the entire year for a dedicated parking space in the deck
To register, please provide a copy of the student’s driver’s license, car registration and proof of insurance, plus a Parking Permit Applications which can be found HERE

Permits can be obtained in the Warrior Book Store before school or during lunch.

Please keep in mind these simple rules that exist for the safety of our students:  
Students may not park on the first level of the deck or on any ramp.  
Students must park in their designated spot on the second or third level of the deck.
Students may not park outside of the deck in the surface parking.
Students may not park in the spaces by the athletic fields or bus lane during school hours.

There is no free parking for students anywhere on NAHS property.
