Welcome to a fun-filled and productive school year! My name is Mrs. Gaither, and it is a pleasure to serve as your child’s Gifted and Talented teacher. I have over sixteen years of elementary school experience. This is my ninth year teaching gifted education in Atlanta Public Schools. Classes will meet for students in 1st and 2nd grades on Monday. Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade will meet on Tuesday. The curriculum units to be taught include differentiated standards-based lessons and activities that promote advanced communication, advanced research, creative thinking and problem solving skills, and higher order critical thinking skills.
One of my jobs as a teacher is to help your child discover his/her individual potential and help them to maximize it. I believe in utilizing a wide array of instructional methods to meet the needs of each student. Each student will be assigned various projects throughout the school year. These respective projects are to be completed at home, and before the scheduled due date. Y our assistance and support will not only make your child more successful in school this year, but will also instill good study habits that will last a lifetime.
Finally, I want you to know that one of my most important goals this year is to keep the lines of communication open with you. I am available every day to talk with you between 2:15 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Please don’t hesitate to contact me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. I am looking forward to another fantastic and enlightening year!
