On July 1, 2016, Atlanta Public Schools became a Charter System. Adopting this new operating model allows schools more freedom and flexibility to find new ways to boost student achievement. There are nine voting members, except for High School LSGT, (1 student voting member at HS level). To learn more, visit the APS website.
Go Teams work with the school leadership and community to help determine the long-term direction of the school, design innovative solutions to increase student achievement, and serve as school ambassadors to the local community.
You are invited where noted so you may exercise your role in what we do: to be informed, to ask questions, to raise issues, and to make suggestions. We cannot do this without you! If you have an item you would like on the agenda, you must arrive 10 minutes before PUBLIC COMMENT meetings start to sign in and log your topic(s). All Public meetings are located in the Media Center and begin promptly at 4:30 pm.
Elections will be held from 9:00 a.m. on March 8th – 11:59 p.m. March 14th
Elections will be administered by Atlanta Public Schools GO Team staff. All eligible voters will vote via an online election system that can be found at www.atlantapublicschools.us/vote .
Parent/guardian voters will use their login information and school employees will use their employee login information to access an online voting system, thus ensuring the security of the elections process and that only eligible voters are able to cast votes. All votes will be anonymous. See more here: APS – GO Teams Voting Handbook.
Parents without access to computers and the internet can cast their vote at their neighborhood school. Atlanta Public Schools will announce winners within 4 days of the close of the election window.
The winners will be posted on the Atlanta Public School’s website on March 18th.
The Go Team (LSGT @ APS) is a key element of our charter system operating model, designed to move decision making closer to where learning takes place. The Go Team (LSGT) in each school is the method the school system will use to get the community, parents and teachers involved in decision making to maximize educational opportunities for our students. Each school’s team will include 3 parents, 3 instructional staff, 2 community members, and 1 “swing” member selected by the team. Click for Team Candidate Info Session Flyer
