The Polaris Yearbook Staff has earned a Gold Medal from the prestigious Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) for the second year in a row for its 2011 “REVIVE” publication! In addition, the staff earned “All- Columbian Honors” for the reference section of the publication
Hospitality, Tourism & Marketing SLC received a second MDRC $30,000 Grant from the U.S. Department of Education to sustained the (CAPS)Careers Academy Projects with a focus on Career Explorations, College Readiness, and Internships.
The JROTC Department established a partnership with the More Than Conquerors, Inc. and Morris Brown College to implement the Collegiate Health Awareness Messages Protecting Students (CHAMPS) program. The program is designed to respond and support the need for strategic youth development, teen pregnancy prevention and service learning. The CHAMPS meet with the cadets one class period a week.
The winner of the KENO competition was Frederick Douglass High School’s Business SLC team lead by Sedrica Stovall.
