Welcome From The Principal

Welcome back to a fantastic school year. Our teachers and staff are working hard to provide our students with quality education in a positive learning environment. I look forward to seeing each of you at our Open House on August 18th and also at our first PTA meeting on August 25th.

Please keep these important points in mind as we move forward with this school year.

Carpool Numbers and Hang Tags
Remember to display your hang-tag from your rear view mirror. Please contact Angela Donald at adonald@atlantapublicschools.us for information about receiving a number or if you need a new carpool hang tag.

Cell Phones
For the safety of our children, teachers and staff, please do not use your cell phone while in the car pool lane!

Students are “Late After Eight!”
Beginning Monday, August 17th, we will distribute Tardy Slips to students who arrive to school after 8am.

If you arrive in carpool after 8am please park and walk your child to the Welcome Desk to receive a tardy slip. Please help your child learn good habits by being ready to participate in their classroom routines and procedures from the very start of the school day. Please ensure students are on time, in their seats and ready for the beginning of the day. Remember, “Late after Eight!”

Get Home Plans
Please remember to send in a written notice if your child’s “Get Home Plan” changes on a particular day. Please do not notify the teacher by email on the day of the change as often, teachers don’t have the opportunity to check their email before the end of the school day.

Dismissal
Parents are encouraged to utilize the afternoon bus service or the carpool pick-up lane. Those parents that insist on walking into the building to receive children at the end of the day should gather in the lobby of the auditorium.

Do not wander to classrooms at dismissal time as this confuses the process for teachers who are diligently organizing children to go to the appropriate location. Please continue to be patient with us as we continue to get the students to the carpool lane as quickly as possible. Many kindergartners do not know their carpool numbers. Therefore, we are using the older students to assist them with recognizing their number when it is called.

Let me know how I can be helpful as we begin this fantastic school year.
You may always reach me at srhayes@atlantapublicschools.us.
